Lymphedema

Controlling Swelling. Improving Quality of Life.

Lymphedema is a chronic condition caused by impaired lymphatic drainage, leading to persistent swelling of the arms or legs. If left untreated, it can result in heaviness, discomfort, recurrent infections, skin changes, and reduced limb function.

We offer comprehensive lymphedema care with both non-surgical and advanced microsurgical treatments.
Non-surgical management includes Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT), compression therapy, manual lymphatic drainage, exercise, and skin care.

For suitable patients, minimally invasive procedures such as Lymphaticovenous Anastomosis (LVA) and Vascularized Lymph Node Transfer (VLNT) help restore lymphatic drainage, reduce swelling, and improve long-term quality of life

ABOUT LYMPHEDEMA

Comprehensive Surgical Care For Lymphedema

When conservative treatments such as compression therapy and physiotherapy are insufficient, microsurgical procedures can offer significant benefit. Depending on the stage of the disease and the condition of the lymphatic vessels, surgical options include Lymphaticovenous Anastomosis (LVA), which diverts lymphatic fluid into nearby veins using supermicrosurgical techniques, and Vascularized Lymph Node Transfer (VLNT), where healthy lymph nodes are transferred from another part of the body to restore lymphatic drainage. In advanced cases with significant fibrofatty tissue deposition, debulking procedures may be recommended, either alone or in combination with physiological reconstruction.

LVA

Improves lymph drainage by connecting lymphatic vessels to veins.

VLNT

Transfers healthy lymph nodes to restore lymphatic function.

Liposuction

Removes excess fatty tissue caused by chronic lymphedema.

DeBulking Procedures

Removes excess tissue to improve function and mobility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about consultations, procedures, recovery, and patient care.

Conservative management is a non-surgical approach that helps reduce swelling, improve lymphatic drainage, relieve discomfort, and prevent the progression of lymphedema using therapies such as CDT, compression therapy, exercise, and skin care.
Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) is the gold standard treatment for lymphedema. It combines Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), compression therapy, therapeutic exercises, skin care, and patient education to effectively control swelling.
Lymphedema is a chronic condition and cannot usually be cured completely. However, conservative treatment can effectively control swelling, improve mobility, reduce discomfort, and enhance overall quality of life.
The duration depends on the severity of your condition. Many patients require ongoing self-care, compression therapy, regular follow-up, and lifestyle modifications to maintain long-term symptom control.
Yes. Compression therapy is one of the most important components of conservative lymphedema treatment. It helps reduce swelling, improves lymphatic drainage, prevents fluid buildup, and supports long-term symptom control when used as recommended by your specialist.
